biotite    音标拼音: [b'ɑɪət,ɑɪt]
n. 黑云母

黑云母

biotite
n 1: dark brown to black mica found in igneous and metamorphic
rock

Mica \Mi"ca\, n. [L. mica crumb, grain, particle; cf. F. mica.]
(Min.)
The name of a group of minerals characterized by highly
perfect cleavage, so that they readily separate into very
thin leaves, more or less elastic. They differ widely in
composition, and vary in color from pale brown or yellow to
green or black. The transparent forms are used in lanterns,
the doors of stoves, etc., being popularly called
{isinglass}. Formerly called also {cat-silver}, and
{glimmer}.
[1913 Webster]

Note: The important species of the mica group are:
{muscovite}, common or potash mica, pale brown or
green, often silvery, including {damourite} (also
called {hydromica} and {muscovy glass}); {biotite},
iron-magnesia mica, dark brown, green, or black;
{lepidomelane}, iron, mica, black; {phlogopite},
magnesia mica, colorless, yellow, brown; {lepidolite},
lithia mica, rose-red, lilac.
[1913 Webster] Mica (usually muscovite, also biotite)
is an essential constituent of granite, gneiss, and
mica slate; {biotite} is common in many eruptive rocks;
{phlogopite} in crystalline limestone and serpentine.
[1913 Webster]

{Mica diorite} (Min.), an eruptive rock allied to diorite but
containing mica (biotite) instead of hornblende.

{Mica powder}, a kind of dynamite containing fine scales of
mica.

{Mica schist}, {Mica slate} (Geol.), a schistose rock,
consisting of mica and quartz with, usually, some
feldspar.
[1913 Webster]

Biotite \Bi"o*tite\, n. [From Biot, a French naturalist.] (Min.)
Mica containing iron and magnesia, generally of a black or
dark green color; -- a common constituent of crystalline
rocks. See {Mica}.
[1913 Webster]

  • Biotite - Wikipedia
Biotite is a common group of phyllosilicate minerals within the mica group, with the approximate chemical formula K (Mg,Fe)3AlSi3O10(F,OH)2 It is primarily a solid-solution series between the iron - endmember annite, and the magnesium -endmember phlogopite; more aluminous end-members include siderophyllite and eastonite
  • Biotite Mineral | Uses and Properties - Geology. com
The name "biotite" is used in the field and in entry-level geology courses because these minerals generally cannot be distinguished without optical, chemical, or x-ray analysis Biotite is a rock-forming mineral found in a wide range of crystalline igneous rocks such as granite, diorite, gabbro, peridotite, and pegmatite
  • Biotite: Mineral information, data and localities.
A K-rich subgroup of the trioctahedral mica group of the Mica Group The CNMMN Subcommittee on Nomenclature of the Micas (1998, 1999) has recommended that the name biotite be used for any minerals in the “series” between the joins Annite - Phlogopite and Siderophyllite - Eastonite, and is therefore no longer to be regarded as a species name, more strictly a subgroup Other closely related

  • Biotite | Mica, Silicate, Rock-Forming | Britannica
Biotite, a silicate mineral in the common mica group It is abundant in metamorphic rocks (both regional and contact), in pegmatites, and also in granites and other intrusive igneous rocks For chemical formula and detailed physical properties, see mica (table) Biotite is regarded as a mixture
  • Biotite | Common Minerals
Dark colored minerals with a layered crystal structure, biotite and phlogopite both display a single perfect cleavage direction This cleavage allows biotite and phlogopite samples to be easily separated into thin flexible light-transmitting translucent sheets Students can effortlessly reduce samples of these minerals to a mound of broken sheets, much to the dismay of earth science teachers
  • Biotite mica: The mineral Biotite information and pictures
Biotite is a very common form of mica It is named in honor Jean Baptiste Biot (1774 - 1862), a French physicist, mathematician, and astronomer who researched the mica minerals for their optical properties Because of Biotite's abundance, its presence is usually lacking in collections except for it being an accessory mineral to other minerals
  • Biotite Mineral Geology and Uses - ThoughtCo
Biotite is a dark-colored mineral found in many rocks and is also known as black mica Biotite is used to date rocks using argon-argon or potassium-argon dating methods Mica, including biotite, is used in electronics, construction, and various industries for its unique properties
